World Environment Day on 5th June 2024

The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) marked World Environment Day on 5th June 2024 with a series of impactful events to raise awareness about environmental protection. This year’s theme, “Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience,” was embraced with the slogan “Our Land, Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” ????????

The celebration included planting saplings on campus, showcasing TGOUN’s commitment to environmental sustainability and rejuvenation of our planet. ????✨

We were honored to have Shri. Watichuchang Jamir, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chümoukedima, as our Guest of Honour. In his inspiring speech, he emphasized the importance of environmental preservation for future generations and the urgent need to prioritize our efforts. “All of us have a key role to play in fostering transformative change,” he said. “Such changes can be achieved through small contributions and efforts.”

Dr. H.N. Dutta, our Vice-Chancellor, also delivered a significant address on the impacts of climate change. He highlighted how these changes affect both natural and human systems, stressing the need for immediate and collective action to safeguard our future. ????????
