Bachelor of Science (Optometry)
Objective : The three years Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Optometry conducted by The Global Open University, Nagaland has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of ophthalmology, contact lens fitting, orthoptic assessment, ophthalmic instruments operations, opthalmic theatre maintenance etc.
Eligibility : 10+2 with science subject
Duration : 3 years plus one year compulsory rotating internship
Awards : Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Optometry shall be awarded to the successful candidates.

Careers in Optometry
Graduates of Optometry get expert knowledge of doing refraction, contact lens fitting and orthoptic assessment independently besides operating as well as maintaining ophthalmic instruments and ophthalmic theatres and running / establishing an optical clinic. There is a huge demand for Optometrists specially in the rural as well as hilly regions where no such facilities are available specially for the elderly persons needing orthopic assessments and treatments on a continuing basis.
Total Fee : Rs. 24,150
Accordingly, the Application Form duly filled-in along with four stamp size photographs, copies of certificates and mark sheets and a Bank Draft for the full fee i.e. Rs. 24,150 in the name of “The Global Open University, Nagaland” payable at Dimapur must reach the Admissions Officer, The Global Open University, Sodzulhou Village, NH-39, Dimapur – 797115 by registered post only.
Examination Fee : A fee of Rs. 300 per paper is to be paid before appearing in the Annual Examinations to be held at different Examination Centers within the State of Nagaland (Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha).
Attachment with Hospitals : All admitted students must be attached to a full fledged hospital having a pathological laboratory. Admissions will not be granted without such an attachment.
Assignments : All admitted participants must submit subjectwise assignments based on the Mini Project Reports to be prepared by them on a topic related to each of the subjects.
