PHEK

Home of the Chakhesangs and Pochuries, Phek is 145 kilometres from Kohima. Colourful orchids grow wildly here. This area is also the habitat of Blynth's Tragopan, a rare pheasant found in Nagaland. Chakhesangs are known for their wrestling and robust health. Their terrace fields carved out of the hill slopes are a sight to behold. It speaks of their engineering skills. The stones and pillars near Chesezumi on the Chazouba road tell tales of valour of the ancient Chakesangs - who were formerly known as Eastern Angamis.
